Position Name: Prepress Technician

Department: Prepress

Position Type: Permanent Full Time, Onsite

Hours per Week: 40

Pay: $45,000 - $60,000 Annually

Summary: As a Pre-Press Technician at Vins Plastics, you will facilitate and drive all aspects of the printing pre-press workflow. This role involves preparing digital files for print ensuring that all artwork meets the specifications for production. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of printing processes, a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly. This position requires the ability to handle multiple jobs in various stages of production efficiently in order to meet the production schedule.

This is a permanent, full-time role based on-site to support our production pre-press team. Working hours are from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

This position reports to the Prepress Supervisor and Prepress & Printing Department Manager

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and process digital files for printing, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Handles multiple jobs at various production stages, prioritizing and adapting as needed based on production schedule updates
- Review and verify artwork for compliance with production specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform colour correction, trapping, and other pre-press adjustments.
- Proof jobs in final approval stage for content, distortion, and traps.
- Analyzes customer files for fonts, images, integrity, and printability.
- Traps files and applies necessary pullbacks and changes to flexo / litho presses.
- Re-touches images for better platability.
- Operate and maintain pre-press equipment and softwore, including RIP systems and proofing devices.
- Collaborate with customers, sales and productions teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of pre-press activities and updates.
- Adheres to all production documentation, processes and quality control procedures.
- Ensure timely workflow to meet production schedules
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in pre-press technology
- Satisfies client pre-print demands through client interaction.




- Finds ways to improve cost in the pre-press as well as develop solutions.
- Trains and shares software developments based on department and company needs.
- Follows through with jobs to press to guarantee the best results.
- Tests software pertaining to the workflow of packaging.
- Produces key jobs based on complexity and print runs.
- Troubleshoot pre-press issues with production team as required
- Undertake other tasks as needed to support business objectives.

Skills and Expierence:

- Proven pre-press experience preferably in operations or manufacturing; experience in flexible packaging and customer-facing roles is highly beneficial.
- Strong proficiency in trapping, Macintosh, file management, network utilization and workflow and maintenance/troubleshooting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Experience with ERP systems; D365 or similar is preferred.
- Strong understanding of colour theory, printing processes, and production techniques.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and software systems.
- Ability to establish, maintain and retrieve permanent files.
- Must pass colour vision and colour hue test.
- Must be able to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on mechanical test.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail with exceptional organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
- Solid mathematical, memory, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.

Qualifications, Education & Certification:

- A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- A degree, diploma or certification in Graphic Design or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution or technical school is preferred.

Position Requirements:

- Thorough knowledge of prepress operating platforms including high end trapping programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with relevant applications.
- Experience with Esko software considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.

Working Conditions:

- The role is office-based within a manufacturing facility setting, involving prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and computer use, up to 8 hours per shift.
- Occasional visits into the manufacturing facility are required to troubleshoot pre-press issues. Safety footwear is required to enter the manufacturing area of the facility and may require prolonged periods of standing.
