310S Licensed Automotive Technician / Shop Foreman

Norstar Auto & Body is looking for an experienced and dependable 310S Licensed Automotive Service Technician to lead and support our growing mechanical department.

This is more than a technician position. We are looking for someone who can perform quality repairs, guide junior staff, improve shop productivity, and help build an organized and profitable mechanical department.

Responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and drivability concerns
- Perform repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, cooling, engine, HVAC and general maintenance
- Review work orders and confirm repair requirements
- Recommend labour times, parts and repair procedures
- Assign and supervise work performed by registered apprentices and support staff
- Inspect completed repairs and perform road tests when required
- Identify additional repairs and clearly document findings
- Maintain safe, qualified and organized work practices
- Help reduce comebacks, incorrect diagnoses and unnecessary delays
- Support training and development of junior technicians
- Keep management updated on job progress, parts delays and vehicle status
- Help manage the daily workflow of two mechanical hoists

Requirements

- Valid Ontario 310S Automotive Service Technician Certificate of Qualification
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair experience
- Ability to use scan tools and diagnostic equipment




- Good communication and leadership skills
- Ability to accurately complete work orders and repair notes
- Professional attitude and commitment to quality workmanship
- Shop foreman, lead technician or apprentice-supervision experience is an asset

Compensation

- Competitive hourly wage based on experience
- Guaranteed full-time hours
- Performance incentives
- Up to 15% profit sharing from the mechanical department after successful probation
- Opportunity to grow into Mechanical Department Manager
- Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate

Profit sharing will be based on the mechanical department’s defined adjusted profit and will be explained in a written agreement. It does not include ownership or profits from other departments.
