Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Sushi Bar Maki Chef to join our team at a busy sushi-focused Japanese and Korean restaurant.
The ideal candidate has previous experience making sushi rolls, preparing ingredients, and working in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen. We are looking for someone who is dependable, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and cleanliness.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing sushi rolls, maki, and other sushi menu items according to restaurant standards
- Preparing and organizing ingredients, including rice, vegetables, fish, and other toppings
- Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized sushi/maki station
- Following proper food safety and sanitation procedures
- Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment during service
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of sushi-making experience is required
- Able to work independently in the maki section
- Reliable, responsible,
and able to work well with a team
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must have legal permission to work in Canada
Employment Type:
- Full-time or part-time
Compensation:
- Full time: Salary, based on experience
- Part-time: $22–$25 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule:
- Day, evening, and weekend availability may be required
- Shifts/hours to be discussed based on availability and restaurant needs
