To strengthen our team at our Brampton, Ontario location, we are looking for a Logistics Planner.
Job Description:
- Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure on-time delivery while meeting customer and production requirements.
- Develop and maintain transportation schedules, optimizing freight costs, delivery performance, and resource utilization.
- Coordinate daily with suppliers, carriers, customers, production, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure efficient material flow.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with Material Planning to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
- Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs documents, packing slips, and delivery schedules.
- Track shipments, investigate delivery issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
- Analyze logistics performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, inventory accuracy, and freight utilization.
- Maintain accurate logistics data and transportation records within SAP or other ERP systems.
- Support production planning by ensuring materials and finished goods are available and shipped according to schedule.
- Coordinate warehouse activities related to receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping operations.
- Collaborate with carriers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to ensure service levels, cost targets, and contractual requirements are met.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize transportation routes, warehouse processes, and overall supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable transportation, customs, and safety regulations.
- Support new product launches, engineering changes, and end-of-production activities by coordinating logistics requirements.
- Prepare weekly and monthly logistics reports, including shipment status, inventory performance, freight costs, and supplier delivery metrics.
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or their designate.
Job Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, transportation coordination, inventory planning, or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with SAP or another ERP system; SAP experience is considered a strong asset.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, carriers, customers, and internal departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve logistics and supply chain issues.
- Knowledge of transportation, shipping documentation, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for reporting and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail with a structured and accurate approach to work.
