POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Facilities & Maintenance Lead Hand is responsible for the overall maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the company’s facilities, manufacturing equipment, service shops, buildings, and grounds. This position ensures that all assets are maintained in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner to support uninterrupted production and service operations.
The position leads preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manages maintenance personnel and contractors, oversees capital improvement projects, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
Facility & Building Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance and housekeeping of all company buildings, offices, lunchrooms, washrooms, service bays, production areas, and warehouses.
- Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, compressed air systems, fire protection systems, security systems, and building infrastructure.
- Ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operational.
Equipment Maintenance
- Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for manufacturing and service equipment.
- Coordinate inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades.
- Minimize equipment downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history.
Operational Support
- Support production departments by ensuring facility systems remain operational.
- Prioritize maintenance requests based on business impact and operational needs.
- Coordinate emergency repairs with minimal disruption to operations.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts.
Contractor Management
- Source, coordinate, and supervise external contractors.
- Obtain competitive quotations for maintenance projects.
- Ensure contractor compliance with company safety requirements.
- Verify quality of completed work before approval.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements and company safety policies.
- Participate in workplace inspections and safety initiatives.
- Identify facility hazards and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, and appropriate permits are obtained where required.
Budget & Asset Management
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
- Monitor maintenance expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Recommend capital replacement and facility improvement projects.
- Maintain asset and equipment records.
Continuous Improvement
- Standardize maintenance practices across all locations.
- Implement maintenance performance metrics and reporting.
- Improve response times, preventive maintenance compliance, and overall facility condition.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure that all job functions align with the ISO standard requirements
- Report to Senior Management on the performance of the QMS and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained and adhered to at all times
- Other essential duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required.:
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Trade certification or technical education in a maintenance-related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing, transportation, industrial, or service environment.
- Minimum 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, and facilities management.
- Experience managing contractors and maintenance budgets.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency using Company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, communication systems, computer systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and other related programs as applicable.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities; standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, lifting. Carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
- Regularly lift and/or move 25 – 50lbs and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50lbs using lifting equipment or with team assistance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing shop. May be exposed to loud operating machinery and cold and hot temperature.

Pay: $39.00-$49.00 per hour
