Field Process Operator

Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB
Job Type: 7-Month Contract
Shift: 5-5-4 Rotating Schedule (Days & Nights)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Field Process Operators to support the safe and effective operation of a large industrial processing facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced operations environment while supporting major turnaround activities, shutdowns, startups, commissioning, and ongoing production operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while working alongside experienced operations and maintenance professionals.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate and monitor process equipment and systems in accordance with operating procedures and safety standards.
- Complete all required training and qualification requirements within established timelines.
- Conduct routine field inspections and identify abnormal operating conditions.
- Monitor process parameters and respond appropriately to changing operating conditions.
- Support startup, shutdown, commissioning, decontamination, and operational readiness activities.
- Assist with turnaround (TA) planning and execution activities as assigned.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
- Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, records, and shift documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, and turnaround teams.
- Work additional hours as required to support operational and turnaround needs.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 4th Class ABSA Power Engineering Certification.
- Experience working in a refinery, upgrader, petrochemical, chemical processing, energy, or industrial plant environment.
- Valid driver's license.




- Current Fall Protection certification.
- Current Confined Space Entry certification.
- Ability to safely wear a respirator and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
- Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous refinery, upgrader, petrochemical, or heavy industrial operations experience.
- Experience supporting plant turnarounds, shutdowns, startups, or commissioning activities.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of process safety management and industrial operating procedures.

Pay: $49.50-$66.50 per hour

- Do you possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work in Fort Saskatchewan, AB?
- Are you legally authorized to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship requirements?
