THE COMPANY
Basic Grain Products Inc. is an established snack food manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience. Our manufacturing facility is located in Coldwater, Ohio, with our Head Office in Burnaby, BC.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and results-oriented Operations Manager to join our Burnaby Head Office and work closely with our experienced management team in Ohio.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will help coordinate and monitor day-to-day manufacturing operations, review performance, resolve operational issues, and ensure Company standards and initiatives are consistently maintained.
This is a full-time, permanent, in-office position in Burnaby.

The successful candidate will work directly with senior management and gain broad exposure to production, maintenance, quality, food safety, planning, inventory, and overall business operations.

TRAINING & SUPPORT
You will not be expected to learn our operation on your own.
Qualified and experienced in-house professionals will provide comprehensive initial training on our manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, procedures, and operational standards.
Initial training will include approximately two weeks at our Coldwater, Ohio manufacturing facility, followed by ongoing support and periodic plant visits as required.
Candidates must be able to travel to the United States for training and business purposes.
Our Burnaby and Ohio teams are closely connected through a dedicated, state-of-the-art communication system, allowing real-time management meetings, operational discussions, and ongoing collaboration between the two offices throughout the working day.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor day-to-day plant operations in collaboration with the Ohio management team.
- Participate in real-time management meetings and maintain regular communication between the Burnaby and Ohio offices.
- Review daily production and operational reports, identify issues requiring attention, and follow through on corrective actions.
- Utilize the Company's extensive CCTV system as an operational oversight tool to help ensure established procedures and standards are followed.
- Coordinate weekly production scheduling with the Ohio and Burnaby teams.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including production output, efficiency, downtime, waste, and other operational metrics.
- Coordinate and follow up on production, maintenance, inventory, quality, and operational priorities.
- Support the effective use of the Company's CMMS and ERP systems.
- Participate in third-party and certification audits, including SQF, Department of Agriculture, and Organic certification.
- Help ensure food safety, quality, operational procedures, policies, and management initiatives remain consistently implemented.
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiency, productivity, reliability, and cost control.
- Assist with special projects and other management responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education, preferably in engineering, operations, business management, food science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–4 years of relevant food manufacturing experience.
- Experience with CMMS and ERP systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, GMPs, or similar food safety and quality systems is an asset.
- Manufacturing supervisory, management, or cross-functional coordination experience is preferred.
- Ability to travel to the United States.
