About Steamoji Newmarket

Steamoji Newmarket is a new skills-development academy for children ages 5–14, opening in September 2026. Through hands-on projects in coding, robotics, engineering, electronics, 3D printing and digital design, Steamoji helps children build technical skills alongside problem-solving, creativity, confidence and a growth mindset.

Job Summary

We are seeking energetic, engaging and dependable STEM Facilitators to join our founding team. In this role, you will inspire and guide children through hands-on STEM activities while encouraging them to think, experiment, troubleshoot and solve problems independently.

You do not need to be an expert in coding, robotics or engineering. Steamoji provides the curriculum, instructional materials and paid training. We are looking for people who enjoy working with children, are curious about technology, learn quickly and can create a fun, encouraging and safe learning environment.

This position is open to candidates who are at least 18 years old. It is particularly well suited to someone interested in STEM, technology, education, engineering, computer science, child and youth studies or another field involving learning and working with children.

Responsibilities

- Facilitate hands-on Steamoji projects and learning missions for children ages 5–14.
- Guide small groups of students through activities while encouraging curiosity, creativity, experimentation and independent problem-solving.
- Prepare for sessions by reviewing Steamoji instructional materials and becoming familiar with upcoming activities.
- Help students safely use the tools, technology, equipment and materials required for their projects.
- Adapt your support and communication to different ages, confidence levels and learning needs.
- Encourage perseverance, collaboration and a growth mindset.
- Prepare and organize learning materials,

equipment and workstations before and during programming.
- Observe student progress and provide positive, appropriate feedback and encouragement.
- Communicate observations about student progress with the Lead Facilitator or Academy Director and assist with parent feedback as appropriate.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming and safe academy environment.
- Assist with free trials, demonstrations, camps, birthday parties, school satellite programs and community events as scheduled.
- Support Junior STEM Facilitators during programming when appropriate.

What We’re Looking For

- At least 18 years old.
- Enthusiastic about working with children and helping them learn.
- Friendly, patient, dependable and encouraging.
- Comfortable facilitating small groups and keeping students engaged.
- Able to explain ideas clearly and adjust communication for different ages.
- Curious about STEM and technology and willing to learn unfamiliar tools.
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Available for weekday after-school shifts and some Saturdays.

Previous experience working with children through tutoring, teaching, coaching, camps, recreation, youth programs or volunteering is an asset.

Experience with coding, robotics, engineering or other technology is also an asset, but willingness and ability to learn are more significant than expertise in every tool. Paid Steamoji training will be provided.

Work-Integrated Learning Opportunity

In addition to ongoing part-time Facilitator opportunities,

eligible post-secondary students may be considered for a paid, fixed-term work-integrated learning (WIL) placement from September 1 to December 31, 2026.

The WIL opportunity must relate to the student’s post-secondary program and be recognized as work-integrated learning by their college or university. Students studying education, engineering, computer science, educational technology, child and youth studies or another relevant program are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Gain

- Paid training in the Steamoji curriculum, tools and facilitation approach.
- Hands-on experience with coding, robotics, engineering and other STEM technologies.
- Practical experience facilitating learning for children.
- Opportunities to develop communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Experience helping launch and grow a new Steamoji academy.
- Opportunity to progress into a Lead STEM Facilitator role as your skills, experience and responsibilities grow.

Position Details

- Part-time.
- Approximately 8–15 hours per week.
- Primarily weekday after-school shifts, generally beginning around 3:00 p.m., plus some Saturdays.
- In person in Newmarket.
- Pay is based on experience, qualifications and placement type.
- Ongoing part-time and fixed-term WIL opportunities may be available.
- Paid training provided.
- Training to begin as soon as possible in preparation for fall programming.

Because this position involves working with children, a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check will be required as a condition of employment.

If you enjoy helping children learn, are curious about technology and would like to build your own STEM and facilitation skills while helping young people build theirs, we’d love to hear from you.

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
