About the role
Sylvan Lake Lifts is hiring seasonal Dock Hands for our fall removal season. From September through November we pull docks and boat lifts out of the water and stage them for winter storage before freeze-up. You’ll work as part of a crew moving shoreline to shoreline, and you’ll finish most days having cleared a stretch of lake you can point at.
This is physical, outdoor, in-the-water work in cooling fall conditions. If you’re reliable, handy with tools, and don’t mind waders and weather, we want to hear from you.
What you’ll do
- Remove docks and boat lifts from waterfront properties
- Work in the water (wetsuits or waders supplied) disconnecting posts, legs, and anchoring hardware
- Disassemble lift and dock systems and keep hardware organized
- Load, unload, move, and stack customer docks and lifts at our storage yard
- Assist with loading and securing equipment trailers
- Follow secure work procedures around water, heavy loads, and lifting equipment
- Report site conditions, damage, or missing parts to the crew lead
- Represent the company professionally on private residential property
What we’re looking for
- Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and stay on your feet through a full shift
- Comfortable working in and around cold water in variable fall weather; swimming ability required
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation to our Sylvan Lake shop
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence with hand and power tools
- Shows up on time, every day — short season, tight window, weather doesn’t wait
- Construction, landscaping, marine, farm, or trades experience is an asset
- Trailer towing experience is a strong asset
Why work with us
- Return bonus. Hands who finish the fall season in good standing and come back for spring installs receive a return bonus on their first spring paycheque.
- Room to move up. We promote from within. Dock hands who show good judgment and reliability move into equipment operation, on-water roles, and eventually crew lead — the people running our crews started here.
- Steady hours through the season with overtime available, and first call for spring work.
- Small, tight crew where good work gets noticed and nobody hides
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Work Location: On the road
