Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, including preparing client financial records, working papers, tax filings, and compliance documentation. You will work with multiple clients across various industries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to firm standards and Canadian regulatory requirements.

Duties

- Prepare Compilation working papers, including trial balances, adjusting entries, and supporting schedules
- Complete bookkeeping for multiple clients: AP, AR, bank reconciliations, payroll entries, and month-end tasks
- Assist with year-end engagements, including working paper preparation and documentation for review by senior accountants
- Prepare GST/HST/PST returns and other government remittances
- Prepare T1 personal tax returns and T2 corporate tax returns under supervision
- Maintain accurate client files in accordance with firm policies and CPA Canada standards
- Communicate with clients to obtain missing information,



clarify discrepancies, and provide updates
- Support senior staff during busy seasons (year-end, tax season) with additional tasks as required

Requirements

- Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Business Administration
- Experience in a public practice accounting firm is a strong asset but not required
- Proficiency with CaseWare, Taxcycle, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar software
- Understanding of Canadian accounting principles and tax rules
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple client files
- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with clients
