Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Daycare Director to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children at Pinnacle Childcare. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in early childhood education, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to foster developmental growth. This leadership role involves planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, supporting children’s social and emotional development, mentoring staff, and collaborating with families to ensure a positive, high-quality educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educational Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee creative lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards and Alberta's curriculum framework.
- Environment & Safety: Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and play-based learning. Ensure strict compliance with all provincial safety regulations and childcare licensing requirements at all times.
- Child Development: Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through engaging, developmentally appropriate activities. Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of all children, including those with disabilities or special needs.
- Mentorship & Supervision: Serve as a role model and mentor to Level 1 and 2 staff, providing guidance and support in implementing effective teaching strategies and managing classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques.
- Communication & Collaboration: Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, parents, and colleagues. Build strong relationships with families, recognizing them as vital partners in their child's education.
- Administration:
Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and daily activities. Utilize computer skills for record-keeping, scheduling, lesson planning, and communication.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- Certification: Must hold a valid Alberta Child Care Level 3 Certification (formerly Child Development Supervisor).
- Education: A two-year post-secondary Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) diploma from an approved Alberta public college, private career college, or university, OR an approved educational equivalency (e.g., Bachelor of Education, Child and Youth Care diploma/degree, etc.).
- Experience: Proven experience working with young children in a childcare or early learning setting, including experience with children who have diverse needs. Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly preferred.
- First Aid: Valid First Aid and CPR certification in child care.
- Driver License and must own a vehicle.
Skills:
- Language: Proficiency in English is required; bilingual skills in French are highly desirable.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of educators while managing classroom dynamics.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
- Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills to balance lesson planning, classroom activities, and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Technical Literacy: Computer literacy for operating educational software, maintaining records, and communicating electronically.
- Empathy & Creativity: A deep understanding of each child's unique needs, combined with the creativity to design engaging, tailored learning experiences.
Pay: $40,000.00-$54,000.00 per year
