Position Title: Director of Business Operations

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on operational needs. While regular daytime office hours are expected, this position also requires a visible presence in the Club during evening programming (typically 1–2 evenings per week) and occasional weekends to support staff, athletes, competitions, events, and other Club activities.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000/year, depending on experience

West Wind Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organization with a strong history of serving the Lethbridge community. As the city's longest-running gymnastics club, we've built a reputation that reflects the dedication of our coaches and the experiences we create for athletes and their families. We offer a variety of recreational and competitive programs for all ages and abilities and are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, family-friendly place where athletes can build confidence, develop their skills, and have fun.

We are currently seeking a Director of Business Operations to serve as the senior leader of the organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this position provides overall organizational leadership while overseeing the Club's business, financial, and administrative operations. The Director, Business Operations leads a team of experienced coaches and administrative staff while providing overall direction and ensuring the Club is well-positioned to achieve its strategic and operational goals.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys guiding an organization and balancing long-term planning with day-to-day operations. Working closely with the Board, the Director of Business Operations will be responsible for strengthening the Club's financial position, increasing revenue through sponsorships, grants, fundraising, and other business development opportunities, building meaningful relationships throughout the community, and ensuring the organization has the people, systems, and resources needed to support its athletes, families, and staff. As the Club continues to grow, this position will also play a key role in evaluating new opportunities and making informed decisions that support the Club's long-term success.

Experience in gymnastics is not required.



We're looking for an experienced leader who can build on the existing foundation and help guide the Club into its next chapter.

What You’ll Do:

Business Leadership & Organizational Planning

- Work with the Board of Directors to support strategic priorities and organizational planning
- Help guide the Club's long-term business sustainability and organizational growth
- Support governance processes, Board reporting, policy development, and organizational accountability
- Identify opportunities to improve business operations, systems, and administrative processes

Finance & Administration

- Lead budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting
- Oversee bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and administrative systems
- Monitor financial performance, internal controls, and organizational resources
- Coordinate audit preparation, grant reporting, and financial compliance requirements

Community Partnerships & Fund Development

- Build relationships with sponsors, donors, funding partners, and community organizations
- Lead grant applications, sponsorship opportunities, fundraising initiatives, and donor stewardship
- Support marketing, communications, and brand awareness to strengthen the Club's presence in the community
- Represent the Club within the community and help identify opportunities for future growth

Human Resources & Organizational Support

- Oversee HR administration, payroll, recruitment, onboarding, and employment practices
- Support performance management, workplace policies, and employee development
- Ensure organizational policies and employment practices remain current and compliant

Facility, Risk Management & Compliance

- Oversee facility operations, maintenance planning, vendor relationships, and service contracts
- Support organizational risk management, insurance,



and regulatory compliance
- Provide high-level oversight of organizational compliance while working with program leadership on day-to-day operational requirements

What We’re Looking For:

- Experience leading business operations, finance, administration, or organizational management
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, administration, or a related field is an asset
- Strong financial management, budgeting, and business planning skills
- Experience working with a Board of Directors or within a non-profit organization is considered an asset
- Experience with grants, sponsorships, fundraising, marketing, or community partnerships
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to think strategically while managing daily business operations
- Experience overseeing HR functions, organizational policies, and administrative systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and business software
- Professional, organized, collaborative, and comfortable representing the organization within the community
- Willingness to complete Gymnastics Foundations, Safe Sport, Respect in Sport, and Making Ethical Decisions certifications
- CPR or First Aid certification an asset
- Clear credit and vulnerable sector check required
- Gymnastics-specific experience is not required, but considered an asset
- Ability to work 1-2 evenings per week, with occasional weekends and extended hours for events
