PHARMACY ASSISTANT (1 year maternity leave with the possibility of extension)

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the pharmacist, pharmacy technician and pharmacy team with prescription entry and processing, inventory and customer service. This role requires efficient prescription workflow, respect to patient confidentiality and patient safety. The Pharmacy Assistant works under the supervision of the pharmacist in charge or pharmacy manager and follows all company policies, pharmacy procedures, privacy standards and provincial requirements applicable.

Patient Care & Clinical Services

- · Greet patients and customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
- · Answer phone calls and direct medication or clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- · Receive prescriptions, refill requests, and general pharmacy inquiries.
- · Assist with prescription data entry, labeling, packaging, and preparation for pharmacist review.
- · Count, measure, and organize medications under appropriate supervision.
- · Process prescription pick-ups, releases, and pharmacy counter transactions.
- · Support pill pack assembly, basic compounding, and packaging.

Regulatory Compliance

- · File prescriptions, scan documents, fax records, and complete general pharmacy paperwork.
- · Support insurance claims, third-party billing, prescription refills, and prescription deliveries, if provided by the pharmacy.




- · Receive medication and supply orders, stock shelves, rotate inventory, check expiry dates, and replenish supplies.
- · Assist with inventory counts, stock returns, and maintaining organized medication storage.
- · Maintain patient confidentiality and handle personal health information with care.

Collaboration and Team Support

- Work cooperatively with the pharmacy team (including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants) to maintain an efficient and positive team environment.
- Promote health and wellness and participate in community activities such as clinics and educational events, is any.
- Contribute to problem solving discussions and recommend improvements to enshance service quality and operational efficiency.
- Participate in training activities by sharing knowledge, and advancing skill development as required
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

Qualifications:

- Prior community or retail pharmacy experience as a pharmacy assistant (preferred)
- Experience with Fillware
- Pharmacy Assistant diploma or certificate
- Proficient computer and data entry skills
- Attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills
- Outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
- Friendly, respectful and qualified attitude
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift boxes or supply containers up to 50lb

Working Conditions:

- Full time position (40-46 hours week); hours of work will/may include evenings and weekends as required by business needs.
- On-site role in a community pharmacy setting.
