The NDE Assistant will assist NDE Technicians with various duties related to performing Non-destructive Tests (radiography, magnetic particle, ultrasonics, etc.). This is an entry level position, the NDE assistant will receive both on the job and classroom training and development (no previous experience required).

WAV’s main office is in Brooks, AB, however, job sites are located throughout Western Canada.

Entry Level. Call-out basis.

Reports to: Supervisor / Manager

Responsibilities

- Set up and utilize Nondestructive Test equipment
- Assist NDT Technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment
- Assist NDT Technicians with inspections using various NDT equipment and methods
- Record results of inspections
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management

- Willingness to complete necessary training courses

- Dependable and adaptable to changing schedules (position is on a call out basis)
- Ability to follow directions and procedures and work as part of a team
- Willingness to work longer than 8 hours per day (overtime is paid when applicable)
- Willingness to travel and work out of town for extended periods of time (i.e. shifts extend up to 24 days)

Requirements

- An interest in developing a career in NDE
- Grade 12 diploma (minimum).



Ability to understand angles and basic math formulas
- Previous Work Experience
- Class 5 Drivers License with 3 years of insurance history.
- Able to pass drug and alcohol screening during hiring process (annually after being hired). Able to pass a fitness test.
- Able to communicate in English (verbally and in writing)
- Computer Skills (experience using Microsoft Excel and Word, email, etc.)

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

- Moving, carrying, lifting, objects in excess of 50 lbs
- Climbing and working off of ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 ft
- Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold
- Work in and near industrial hazards.

Hiring preference will be given to applicants that have the following qualifications:

- First Aid
- H2S Alive
- Confined Space Training
- CGSB NDE Tickets

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
