About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 88-year-old woman living in her farmhouse in Oakwood, just outside Lindsay. She recently had an above-the-knee amputation due to diabetes complications and requires comprehensive support to maintain her independence at home. She has limited mobility, uses a wheelchair, and has poor eyesight. Her daughter-in-law lives with her part-time, and the home has been retrofitted for accessibility. She receives some support from hospital nurses for evening care and has a care specialist who visits regularly.

Responsibilities:

- Provide mobility assistance and protected transfers using proper lifting techniques
- Support with toileting and personal hygiene throughout the day
- Prepare and serve meals, including feeding support as needed
- Manage medication reminders and administration
- Provide supervision for safety due to cognitive needs
- Light housekeeping and laundry as needed
- Offer companionship and engaging conversation
- Assist with bathing or showering as required
- Coordinate with family members and other healthcare providers

What We're Looking For:

- Experience with mobility assistance and transfer techniques for clients with amputations
- Comfortable providing full personal care including toileting support
- Knowledge of diabetic care and medication management
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with family
- Patient, calm demeanor with strong initiative
- English-speaking
- Reliable and consistent attendance




- Experience with cognitive support and safety supervision
- Comfortable in a rural farmhouse setting

Schedule:

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (approximately 24 hours per week). Some flexibility with days and times is possible based on family needs. This is an ongoing position with immediate start preferred, ideally by end of week or early next week. The previous caregiver had to leave suddenly, so the family is looking for someone dependable who can provide consistent long-term support.
