Seeking a reliable, organized, and proactive Logistics Coordinator/General Labourer to support a large, complex industrial construction project.
The successful person will coordinate site deliveries, material movement, storage, and distribution while also assisting with general labour, rigging, and site organization. The role requires strong communication and documentation skills, practical construction knowledge and the ability to work effectively with supervisors, trades, suppliers, and site-management team. Previous plumbing experience is preferred, along with knowledge of mechanical piping systems, construction logistics, QA/QC requirements, and safe rigging practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate delivery bookings, site access, unloading locations, and material movement.
- Communicate delivery requirements and site restrictions to suppliers, drivers, supervisors, and trades.
- Receive, inspect, document, and distribute plumbing, mechanical, and industrial construction materials.
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips, drawings, specifications, and approved material requirements.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, inventory records, inspection documentation, and daily activity reports.
- Photograph and document material condition upon delivery.
- Identify and report shortages, damaged materials,
incorrect deliveries, and non-conforming products.
- Segregate and clearly identify damaged, rejected, or non-conforming materials.
- Coordinate material storage and laydown areas to support planned construction activities.
- Monitor material quantities and notify supervision of potential shortages or delivery concerns.
- Assist with rigging, hoisting preparation, material handling, and equipment movement within the limits of training and certification.
- Support QA/QC personnel with receiving inspections, material traceability, and document control.
- Coordinate with project supervision to ensure materials are available when required.
- Assist with general labour duties, housekeeping and maintaining safe access routes.
- Keep storage, laydown, and work areas clean, secure, and organized.
- Participate in daily planning meetings, toolbox talks and required safety activities.
- Follow all project-specific safety, environmental, quality and logistics procedures.
- Complete additional site-support duties as reasonably assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a large industrial construction project.
- Experience supporting or working within a construction QA/QC program.
- Valid rigging certification and demonstrated knowledge of safe lifting and material-handling practices.
- General knowledge of plumbing, mechanical piping systems, and industrial construction materials.
- Previous logistics, material coordination,
warehousing, or site-support experience.
- Robust interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple trades and project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare clear emails, receiving reports, delivery records, and site documentation.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Excel, and basic digital document-control systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Physically capable of performing general labour and material-handling duties.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Available to work staggered or extended shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., as required by project operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous plumbing experience, preferably on a large industrial project.
- Experience coordinating plumbing and mechanical materials.
- Familiarity with piping, valves, fittings, supports, and mechanical equipment.
- Valid driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record.
- Forklift, telehandler or other material-handling certification.
- WHMIS, CSTS or equivalent construction safety training.
- Experience using construction platforms such as Procore or ACC.
- First-aid certification.
