Job Overview

We are looking for a warm, caring, and exceptional Live-In Caregiver to support a lovely senior lady in a peaceful out-of-town setting in Cecil Lake, BC.

Cecil Lake is located approximately 25-30 minutes outside of Fort St. John so a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle to get to and from shift is a must.

This is a temporary position expected to be approximately 1–3 months, with the possibility of extending longer depending on the client’s health and care needs.

This is a special opportunity for someone who truly enjoys caring for seniors, building friendships, and making someone’s days brighter. We are looking for a caregiver who is attentive and engaged with her client, can provide that quality of care, not someone who simply stays in the home while she watches TV.

You’ll become a trusted companion and friend, helping her feel safe, comfortable, cared for, and never alone.

Responsibilities

- Provide attentive live-in care and companionship 6 days per week, with 1 full day off for respite.
- Be present and responsive to her needs throughout the day and night.
- Support a senior client receiving palliative care, with a focus on comfort, dignity, safety, and quality of life.
- Be available around the clock: The caregiver is expected to be awake and attentive whenever the client is awake and needs care, and may rest and sleep when the client is resting and sleeping. This is a true live-in arrangement, requiring flexibility and availability throughout the day and night.
- Help with personal care such as showers, toileting, brief changes, and dressing.
- Prepare balanced, vibrant, and nutritious meals for the both of you, and assist with mobility, medications, and daily routines as needed.
- Spend quality time together—play cards, games, puzzles, read, chat, listen to music, baking, or enjoy activities she loves.




- Encourage fresh air and sunshine with walks or time outdoors when appropriate.
- Be a friendly and positive caregiver and companion who enjoys spending time together and making her last days much brighter
- Pay close attention to changes in her health, comfort, mood, condition, grocery and stock items, and needs.
- Helping with household tasks such as meals, laundry, dishes, tidying, washing floors, bathroom, garbage, and keeping her space clean and comfortable.
- Communicate regularly with family members, healthcare professionals, and the healthcare agency to update on the client’s progress and any concerns.
- Follow the individuals personalized care plan that aligns with her needs
- Create a calm, safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal person is:

- Naturally attentive and observant
- Certified HCA with 1-2 +years experience in geriatrics or home care setting
- Experienced in senior care
- Experienced with palliative and/or hospice care/end-of-life care
- Experienced with dementia and/or memory care
- Experience with charting and reporting
- Reliable, responsible, and comfortable working independently
- Someone who understands that excellent caregiving is about both care, and companionship
- Selfless, caring, upbeat, and genuine
- Local (FSJ/North Peace Area) and fluent in English

The Opportunity

- Temporary position: approximately 1–3 months, with potential to continue depending on her health and needs
- 6 days per week + 1 full respite day
