Job Summary

BAT Construction Ltd. is a Canadian leader in slope stabilization and geotechnical construction, delivering specialized drilling, rockfall mitigation, anchored retaining systems, and rope access solutions throughout British Columbia. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Drilling Foreperson to lead our geotechnical drilling crews on projects throughout the province.

This position is primarily focused on micropile drilling, hollow bar anchor installation, and other geotechnical drilling applications. The successful candidate will supervise daily drilling operations while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Projects often involve remote locations, challenging terrain, mine sites, transportation corridors, and civil infrastructure.

This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, planning ability, and sound decision-making. The successful applicant will be expected to uphold BAT Construction's core values of Safety, Integrity, Flexibility, Quality, and Team Spirit.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate daily geotechnical drilling operations
- Lead crews during micropile, hollow bar anchor, self-drilling anchor, and foundation drilling activities
- Conduct daily tailboard meetings and ensure all work is completed safely
- Organize manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project requirements
- Complete daily project documentation, including Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), drill logs, production reports, and safety documentation
- Monitor project productivity, schedule, and costs




- Identify hazards and implement appropriate risk controls
- Communicate daily with the Operations Manager regarding project progress, equipment, manpower, and client requirements
- Maintain solid working relationships with clients and identify opportunities for additional work
- Mentor, train, and develop drillers and support personnel
- Ensure equipment inspections and preventative maintenance requirements are completed

Required Skills

- Extensive experience supervising geotechnical drilling operations
- Strong knowledge of micropile drilling, hollow bar anchor installation, and self-drilling anchor systems
- Experience operating hydraulic drill rigs used for geotechnical construction
- Strong understanding of drilling techniques in rock and overburden conditions
- Ability to interpret drilling logs, construction drawings, and project specifications
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong commitment to safety and applicable provincial regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or higher)

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:

- Micropile drilling




- Hollow bar anchor installation
- Self-drilling anchor systems
- Rock dowels and ground support installation
- Geotechnical stabilization
- Foundation drilling
- Civil or mining construction
- Heavy equipment operation
- Heavy-duty mechanics
- Rope access or working in steep terrain

Education & Experience

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Minimum five years of experience in geotechnical drilling or related construction
- Experience supervising drilling crews is considered a strong asset

Position Details

- Location: Various project locations throughout British Columbia
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Union: CLAC
- Rotation Schedule: To be discussed
- Travel: job specific (most include LOA)
- Start Date: As soon as possible

Work Location: In person

Pay: $45.29 per hour
