Andrew Fleck Children’s Services is excited to introduce a new premium hourly rate for ECE Assistants!
Andrew Fleck Children’s Services is hiring an ECE Assistant! As ECE Assistant, you will assist the Early Childhood Educators in providing a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, healthy and safe environment to meet the needs of children in the group setting. Available from: August 31st, 2026 to September 3rd, 2027
Salary: $27.12 per hour
Compensation Includes: Comprehensive benefits package including 3 weeks of annual vacation & Benefits plan through Canada Life
Hours: 27.5 hours per week, 5.5 hours per day, Shifts between 7:00 am to 9:30 am and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
*7 hours on PA & non-school days
Location: Alta Vista Child Care Centre, 1349 Randall Ave., Ottawa
Closing date: August 12th, 2026

In this role you will…
- Participate in a child-focused curriculum where staff and children work together to expand and develop a wide range of skills and competence based on the emergent curriculum philosophy.
An emergent curriculum is one that builds upon the interests of the children. It is often spontaneous and responsive to their immediate interests; topics are driven by the ideas and questions from the children themselves
- Engage in caring, curious, and respectful interactions with children to support their growing relationships with themselves, each other, and the natural world
- Actively encourage and promote outdoor learning and play with the children
- Be committed to the welfare and development of all children, and be available for consultation, information, and resources for families and guardians
- Welcome the diversity of all families, role modelling inclusive and accessible language
To qualify for this role you have…
- Previous experience assisting in early learning and care environments or working directly with children
- A keen interest and comfortability in working with children in the outdoors in all weather and all seasons
- Explicit Police Record Check (Vulnerable sector) completed in the last 6 months
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
- Demonstrated understanding of a licensed group care environment
- Proven ability to work closely with other team members
- Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural differences
- Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Early Childhood Education diploma or degree from a recognized college or university or other equivalent education (would be an asset)
- An additional language (would be an asset)
