About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a woman living with stage 6 Alzheimer's disease in Thornbury. She primarily needs companionship and supervision when her husband is away for his regular activities. While she can be very friendly and pleasant, she may also experience moments of anxiety or agitation, which is common with her condition. She cannot be left alone and requires someone who can provide a calm, reassuring presence.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversation and activities
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed
- Ensure safety through attentive supervision
- Provide light meal support including reheating food and offering reminders
- Maintain a calm, patient presence during moments of anxiety or mood changes
- Communicate clearly with the family about each visit

What We're Looking For:

We need someone with proven experience supporting individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia. The ideal caregiver is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. You should be comfortable with the unpredictable nature of dementia care and able to adapt your approach based on the client's mood and needs. Reliability and consistency are essential, as is the ability to take initiative when situations arise. Strong communication skills with both the client and family are a must. English-speaking caregivers only.

Schedule:

This position will be one regular day per week, starting in late September.



The schedule will be either Monday mornings from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM or Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The specific day will be confirmed in mid-August. There may be occasional opportunities for additional hours as the family's schedule evolves, particularly in October when activities increase. We're looking for someone who can commit to consistent weekly visits and potentially grow into additional days over time.

The family is located in the Thornbury area and is comparing care options to find the right long-term match for their needs.
