Job description

As a Proposal Engineer at Osella you assist in securing future business with our customer base for automation and robotics equipment. Proposal Engineers are expected to contribute to the sales targets by delivering superior concepts and accurate budgets for custom automation solutions in response to RFQs. This individual must have advanced understanding and technical ability in several areas of automation to successfully fulfil this role. Working with the Account Manager, Engineering and Purchasing teams he/she will solve in-depth customer challenges by creating winning concepts and conveying them through detailed proposals.

Duties and Deliverables

· Responsible for producing concepts in response to customer RFQs.

· Accurate costing of labour and materials for automation and tooling solutions

· Maintaining records of all incoming and outgoing information

· Working with the Account Manager he/she will produce monthly reports

· Working with the Account Manager he or she will host customer meetings to discuss current and upcoming projects from a technical perspective

· Work diligently to meet customer timing requirements for proposal submission dates

· Participate in Job Kick-off meetings and review budgets set out for each job.

· Participate in annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances and identify areas of cost savings.





· Make recommendations to the team for cost improvements and identification of other opportunities.

· Demonstrate and provide leadership in the enforcement and implementation of the companies program and policies

· Assist in other areas of the business as needed

Qualifications

The following qualifications are the determined minimum requirements for the position:

· 5 years min of direct experience in automation equipment design.

· 1-2 years’ experience cost estimating automation

· Experience with SolidWorks design software.

· Previous experience with Oracle ERP would be a benefit.

· Intermediate understanding of electrical controls systems and 24v dc devices as it pertains to sensor design.

· Strong understanding of pneumatics systems operation.

· Strong understanding of mechanical principals

· Strong PC aptitude & skills are required, in particular with Excel, other MS Office product.

· Ability to travel internationally.

· Experience with other aspects of machine building as to have a foundation of knowledge that adds to your ability.

· Experience and knowledge of Machine Safety design and requirements. (Robot safeties, operator safeties, and device such as area scanners.)

· Comprehension of Ergonomics as it applies to human interface with equipment operation.

· Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing plant processes and standard controls practices.

· Must have excellent analytical and communications skills and be able to work in a fast-paced workplace

· Strong emphasis as a team player that thrives in a cooperative team environment and presents themselves in a polished professional manner

· Passport & without limitations on travel

· Drivers License
