Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Layout Guy to join our dynamic construction team looking for immediate work.

This role is essential in ensuring the successful execution of eartg projects by operating heavy machinery (excavator, dozer or skid steer, compactor) and ability to use layout tools an asset.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with various equipment, and a proactive attitude to contribute to safe, efficient, and precise project completion.

Duties

- Operate heavy machinery such as dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and backhoes to perform earthmoving, grading, paving, and site preparation tasks.
- Use construction tools and equipment to accurately lay out project plans according to engineering specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment like Caterpillar machines and horizontal drilling tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with site setup, including marking boundaries, establishing grade lines, and preparing the ground for paving or other construction activities.
- Collaborate with project managers and surveyors to interpret blueprints and technical drawings for precise layout work.




- Support in operating horizontal drilling equipment for underground utilities installation when required.
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols during all operations.

Experience

- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, backhoes, and Caterpillar machinery in a construction setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings for layout purposes.
- Experience with horizontal drilling, paving operations, and site grading is highly desirable.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
- Prior work history involving construction projects that required exact layout work and equipment operation.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and construction site protocols.

Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
