Reporting to the Senior Institutional Research Analyst, the Institutional Data Analyst supports the leveraging of strategic information and analysis regarding enrolment, curriculum, finance, and space planning, as well as policy development at University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), by collecting and analyzing data, preparing data summaries, and presenting reports.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Preparing detailed and standardized summary information from a variety of sources;
- Preparing data to assist in institutional planning from a variety of sources both internal and external to UNBC;
- Supporting strategic planning, recruitment and retention planning, space allocation planning, program quality assurance, and financial and resource planning with appropriate data and related analyses;
- Preparing all regularly required data, data summaries, and reports for internal and external purposes including but not limited to: regular enrolment reports, quality assurance data packages and annual legislated reports;
- Providing other reports or analysis for various clients, both internal and external as requested;
- Refining and developing analytical strategies to achieve the desired reporting products in efficient and concise methods;
- Refining and developing analytical strategies and improving reporting processes to produce clear, efficient, and consistent reporting products; and
- Auditing information with regards to accuracy, consistency and completeness and forward any noted issues to the appropriate data stewards.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following:

- University undergraduate degree;
- Three or more years’ experience in a similar field where data analysis and reporting are significant components;
- Proficiency in the use of current statistical software and research design methodologies is essential;
- Demonstrated knowledge in integrating and analyzing large datasets retrieved from multiple sources in a variety of formats; statistical methods and analysis; survey design and analysis; and educational evaluation and assessment; and
- Proficiency in data visualization (e.g., Power BI) and reporting, Microsoft Access, Excel and familiarity with SQL and/or equivalent data extraction and analysis tools.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Salary





This position has been classified at a Grade 7. The annual salary range for this position is $62,644.40 to $65,228.80 and the normal starting salary will be $62,644.40.

Normal hours of work will be 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
