Brake Press Roll Operator - Richmond, BC
Our client is a well-established manufacturing facility with over 65 years of experience in heavy metal fabrication. They specialize in delivering high-quality manufacturing, repair, and rebuild services for projects across Canada and internationally. Their expertise spans heavy metal fabrication, machining, assembly, and precision sheet metal work, serving a diverse range of industries.
Our client is looking for a skilled Brake Press / Roll Operator to join their team. This role involves setting up and operating various heavy metal fabrication machines, including plate shears, rolls, and hydraulic brake presses. The ideal candidate will handle layout work, forming, and bending of steel and alloy materials to meet customer specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing workplace.

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate hydraulic brake presses, plate rolls, plate shears, and other fabrication equipment.
- Perform layout, bending, rolling, and forming of carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and heavy plate materials (1 inch thick or greater).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and fabrication specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling and machine settings based on material type, thickness, and job requirements.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
- Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a heavy metal fabrication environment.
- Experience operating hydraulic brake presses, plate rolls, and plate shears.
- Hands-on experience working with heavy plate, structural steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
- Valid forklift certification or forklift certification an asset,
- High school diploma or equivalent.
