Job Summary
Summary:
The Faculty of Health is a leader in health and community education, community-based research, Indigenous initiatives and partnerships, distance education delivery and innovative graduate programs.
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration and working as part of a team of staff and faculty in the Dean`s office, this position will serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff and visitors, and will provide a wide variety of services to ensure effective administration of the office.
Job Requirements
Experience:
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 2 years of experience working within a comparable environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time and tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve by using judgement, independent thinking and/or analysis.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences.
- Experience with administrative tasks such as composing correspondence and reports, scheduling meetings, coordinating calendars, maintaining confidential and sensitive information, and supporting committees.
- Experience with event planning and coordination.
- Understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols, histories and values, with an emphasis on respecting and integrating both local and non-local traditions and historical contexts.
- Proficiency with computer applications (i.e., MS-Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, content management systems).
- Ability and willingness to learn current technologies.
- Knowledge of BANNER, FAST, Cascade and SharePoint is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with UVic programs, policies, procedures and business systems is considered an asset.
