POSITION SUMMARY:

Works in conjunction with the JNH Therapeutic Recreation Programmer to maintain resident independence and to promote optimal mental, physical, social, intellectual and spiritual well being of the residents. Works in accordance with all the Policies and Procedures of the Home. While performing any and all duties of the position the employee will work in a safe and healthy manner and will follow the regulations outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act as outlined in the organization Health & Safety Policy, Infection Control and safe work procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill,

and/or ability required.

- Diploma in Recreation Leadership or enrolled in College Recreation Courses
- Restorative Care Certificate or Activation Techniques in Gerontology Certificate
- Minimum of one-year experience working in a Long-Term Care Facility
- Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills in preparing documents programs and demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written
- Enjoy working with the elderly

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

- Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan recreation and social act that includes a range of indoor and outdoor recreation, leisure program outings with the Recreation Programmer.




- May need to provide ongoing assessment of resident activity and complete documentation using RAI-MDS, Point Click Care.
- Work with the Therapeutic Recreation Programmers to plan and conduct facility – wide events that include evenings and weekends as required. Implement therapeutic recreational programs.
- Work as a member of the interdisciplinary team, implementing and evaluating the resident care plan.
- Assist and support all residents to participate in activities that maybe of interest to them (dependently or independently).
- Work within funds allocated for unit activities and events and submit requests and receipts to Coordinator or Recreation Programmer Lead.
- Function as a member of facility committee(s) as required.
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development.
