Our client a large Canadian retailer is currently seeking a Financial Analyst join their team on a 2-month contract. This role follows a hybrid working arrangement requiring four days onsite and one day working remotely each week at their Toronto or Oakville offices. in this role the Financial Analyst will be responsible for:
- Prepare and analyze significant journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules as part of the monthly close process across a variety of margin areas
- Ensure financial results are accurately recorded and compliant with IFRS requirements.
- Investigate variances, identify trends, and present insights and recommendations to management.
- Understand, maintain, and enhance accounting models, reconciliations, and reporting processes.
- Partner with business teams, FP&A;, Accounting,
and internal and external auditors to support business objectives and reporting requirements.
- Support audits, new business initiatives, and cross-functional projects
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA designation (or working towards completion).
- 2+ years experience in a medium/large company at a Financial Analyst/Accountant level with robust IFRS knowledge.
- Detail oriented with strong diagnostic and analytical skills .
- Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment, while maintaining attention to detail and a curiosity to understand the drivers behind financial results.
