The EarlyON Family Resource Coordinator is a dynamic and creative professional passionate about early learning, parent engagement, and community connection. This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality EarlyON programs, including specialized drop-ins, parent-capacity building initiatives, and family support groups.
Guided by How Does Learning Happen? Adult Education Principles, and OPCC’s mission, vision, and values, this position ensures that all programming is culturally responsive, inclusive, and reflective of the diverse families in our community—including vulnerable and equity-seeking populations.
The Coordinator is guided by the OPCC Leadership Team, works collaboratively with the EarlyON Child and Family Centre Supervisor, and oversees the coordination of Family Support programs, including internal and external facilitators and associated program staff, to ensure the consistent delivery of responsive, high-quality EarlyON programs that promote family learning, connection, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design and Implementation
- Design, develop, and implement responsive EarlyON programs that meet the evolving needs of children, parents, and caregivers—including specialized drop-ins and registered programs, workshops, and parent support groups.
- Lead the development and delivery of parent-capacity building programs that strengthen parenting confidence, mental health, and connection.
- Ensure programs align with How Does Learning Happen? OPCC’s strategic goals, and Halton Region’s Quality Systems framework.
- Incorporate inclusive practices and accessibility considerations into all program planning.
Parent and Family Engagement
- Collaborate with the EarlyON team to develop and implement a comprehensive parent engagement strategy across all programs.
- Offer one-on-one support, information, and referrals to families, connecting them with appropriate community resources.
- Facilitate parenting workshops and discussion groups that address current family needs and interests.
- Support families in becoming advocates for themselves and their children.
- Maintain a regular presence in programs and community settings to build strong relationships with families
Professional Development and Mentorship
- Mentor and support Educators in providing responsive, strength-based parenting support in programs.
- Facilitate skilled learning and reflective practice opportunities for Educators focused on parent engagement, family well-being, and inclusive program design.
- Share current research, best practices, and resources related to early learning, parenting, and child development.
Community Partnerships and Outreach
- Collaborate with community partners, including Halton Region, schools, and family service agencies, to co-develop programs and outreach opportunities.
- Engage with local organizations to integrate cultural perspectives into programming.
- Represent OPCC at community committees, events, and networks that promote early learning and family support.
Program Evaluation and Reporting
- Visit OPCC sites regularly to observe, evaluate, and ensure program quality and consistency.
- Collect and analyze program feedback and participation data to inform continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports for funders and stakeholders.
General
- Ensure that all program activities operate within OPCC’s policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of community events and special initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- Early Childhood Education diploma/degree or equivalent (SSW, CYW, OCT, EA) with experience in early years programming and family support.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with children and families in early learning or community settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development, play-based and inquiry-based learning, and adult learning principles.
- Strong facilitation skills and experience leading group programs and parent education sessions.
- Experience supporting families through system navigation and resource sharing.
- Knowledge of equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and digital communication tools.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR (Infant and Child).
- Current (within 6 months) Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset
Pay: $52,650.00-$60,450.00 per year
