Sylvan Learning Centre is looking for enthusiastic Math Teachers and Tutors to join our team in Rosedale, Toronto.

This is a great opportunity for teachers, university students, aspiring educators and experienced tutors who enjoy working with young people and want rewarding, hands-on teaching experience.

You'll work directly with students in a supportive, structured environment using Sylvan's established programs and learning materials. No need to create an entire curriculum or spend hours developing lesson plans from scratch.

Instead, you can focus on what matters most: teaching, encouraging students and helping them succeed.

What You'll Do

You'll work with students individually and in small groups, helping them strengthen their math skills, overcome challenges and build confidence.

Depending on your knowledge and experience, you may:

- Teach elementary and/or secondary mathematics
- Help students strengthen foundational numeracy and problem-solving skills
- Support concepts such as arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages and equations
- Teach intermediate and advanced topics such as algebra, geometry, functions, trigonometry and pre-calculus
- Review Sylvan learning plans and materials before instructional sessions
- Adapt your explanations to different students and learning styles
- Provide encouragement and constructive feedback
- Monitor and record student progress
- Communicate student needs and observations to Centre staff
- Collaborate with the Sylvan team on student learning strategies
- Participate in training and career development
- Complete Sylvan certification training for the programs you teach

You do not need to be an expert in every Grade 1 - 12 math topic to apply. We encourage candidates with strong math skills in particular grade levels or subject areas to apply.

Education

Currently pursuing or having completed a bachelor's degree, diploma or equivalent post-secondary education in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Science, Business, Computer Science or another relevant field is preferred.

Great Assets, Not Requirements

The following are welcome but not required:

- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring or coaching experience
- Familiarity with the Ontario mathematics curriculum
- Experience working with children or teenagers
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation or other teaching credentials
- Experience teaching senior-level mathematics

Compensation & Position Details

Pay: $19 - $22 per hour, based on qualifications and relevant experience
