About the role

You will be joining the team behind our clinical data and patient registry platform — the product that carries patient onboarding, consent, eligibility screening, structured clinical data capture and reporting for rare disease and oncology programs around the world. It is used by clinicians, researchers, patients and their families, and the data it holds supports real medical research.

This is a full-stack role. You will own features end to end, from the interface a patient or coordinator uses through to the services and queries behind it, and write the tests that keep a healthcare-grade product trustworthy.

Alongside feature delivery, we are actively investing in the quality of the product experience: responsive layouts that work properly on any device, accessibility that meets WCAG standards, and performance on the dense data-heavy screens our clinical users spend their days in. If you care about that kind of work, there is a lot of it here and real ownership available.

This is not a greenfield rewrite. You will be working in an established production platform with real users and real regulatory obligations, improving it as you go.

Technology you’ll work with

- Frontend — TypeScript and Angular (v20), with RxJS, reactive forms and SCSS. ag-grid for data grids, Highcharts for visualisation, ngx-translate for internationalization.
- Backend — TypeScript on Node.js, running on AWS serverless. MySQL, with the Kysely typed query builder, and runtime schema validation using TypeBox and Zod.
- Quality and tooling — TypeScript in strict mode throughout, ESLint and Prettier, Jest for backend unit tests, Playwright for end-to-end tests, Git and CI pipelines.

What you’ll do

- Build and ship user-facing features across the application and the services behind them.
- Build responsive,



accessible interfaces. WCAG conformance is a compliance requirement in our market, not a nice-to-have.
- Improve frontend performance on dense clinical screens — change detection, bundle size, and rendering large result sets without the interface stalling.
- Build reporting and dashboard interfaces, working with our data engineering team on what the underlying views need to provide.
- Design clean, typed API contracts so the frontend and backend stay in step.
- Write well-structured, well-tested database access.
- Help keep authorization, input validation, error handling and logging consistent across the services.
- Write and maintain tests — unit tests on the backend, end-to-end tests on the frontend.
- Take part in code review and CI, and support the growth of less experienced developers on the team.

What we’re looking for

Required

- Four or more years of professional software engineering experience building web applications.
- Strong TypeScript. Comfortable with generics, discriminated unions, and working in strict mode. This is our most important requirement.
- Modern Angular (v16 or later). Standalone components, RxJS, reactive forms, and a services-first approach to application logic.
- Responsive frontend development. Building interfaces that work properly across screen sizes, including dense, data-heavy views that do not reduce cleanly.
- Authentication and authorization. A working understanding of how identity, sessions or tokens, and permission checks fit together in an API.
- Shared API contracts. Experience keeping a frontend and backend consistent through typed contracts, schema-driven design, or an equivalent approach.
- Strong SQL. Relational modelling, query writing and query tuning on MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Git and collaboration.



Confident with pull-request workflows and navigating a large codebase you did not write.

Strongly preferred

- Accessibility in practice. WCAG 2.x Level AA — keyboard navigation, screen reader support, focus management, and both automated and manual testing.
- Frontend performance. Change detection strategy, bundle analysis and budgets, virtualised rendering of large data sets, and diagnosing jank rather than guessing at it.
- AWS hands-on. Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, S3, SQS, SES or DynamoDB, and infrastructure as code (SAM or CDK).
- Security awareness in a regulated environment. Secrets management, least-privilege access, input validation, audit logging.
- Testing discipline. Jest and Playwright, and the habit of writing tests alongside features.
- Layered architecture instincts — separating controllers, services and data access — and runtime schema validation with TypeBox, Zod or similar.
- Data visualisation. Building charts and dashboards against reporting data — Highcharts or similar.

Bonus

- Healthcare, clinical trials, patient registries or another regulated-data domain — HIPAA, SOC 2, or 21 CFR Part 11.
- Clinical data standards such as OMOP, FHIR or CDISC.
- Kysely, monorepo tooling, or internationalization at scale.

Pay: $85,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
