Financial Accountant

Our client is a well-established, privately owned global supplier in the color cosmetic, health and beauty, and fragrance industries. Since 1991, they have specialized in delivering high-quality packaging solutions, including plastic injection molding and glass components. Their services span the entire process, from concept and design to finished products, with a diverse portfolio of stock and customized packaging options such as lip gloss, lipstick, mascara, compacts, jars, and more.

Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle accounting tasks, including customer billing, vendor invoicing, month-end accruals, adjusting entries, and general ledger (GL) account reconciliations.
- Reconcile month-end inventory sub-ledgers with the GL, analyze inventory valuation, and investigate unusual transactions. Monitor inventory aging and coordinate with the sales team to address obsolete stock.
- Review inter-company transactions, resolve variances, and ensure accuracy across related entities.
- Assist in preparing monthly management reporting packages, reviewing financial statements, and analyzing variances against historical data and budget targets.
- Participate in year-end closing activities, prepare audit schedules, and respond to external auditor inquiries.
- Ensure timely filing and remittance of HST/GST on a monthly basis.




- Support annual corporate tax filing by preparing schedules and collaborating with external tax consultants to ensure compliance with tax requirements.
- Develop annual budgets and projections based on actual data and business assumptions.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses as assigned.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining robust internal financial controls and procedures.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- Accounting designation preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in general accounting.
- Experience with SAP is considered an asset.
- Manufacturing and costing experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
