Taproom/Bar Manager
Location: Stettler Brewing Company – Stettler, Alberta
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary
The Bar Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the taproom, ensuring an exceptional customer experience while maintaining efficient, safe, and profitable operations. This role is hands-on and requires leadership, flexibility, and a willingness to assist wherever needed. During busy periods, events, and festivals, the Bar Manager will help coordinate staff, manage inventory, and support brewery operations.
Key Responsibilities
Taproom Operations
- Manage daily taproom operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and foster a welcoming atmosphere.
- Open and close the brewery according to established procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe taproom.
- Ensure compliance with AGLC regulations and company policies.
- Monitor product quality and presentation.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise taproom staff.
- Prepare staff schedules.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching.
- Promote teamwork and positive workplace culture.
- Ensure staff follow health, safety, and responsible liquor service practices.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Monitor beer inventory in the taproom.
- Order bar supplies, glassware, merchandise,
and consumables.
- Assist with stock counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Reduce waste through proper rotation and inventory management.
Financial Responsibilities
- Balance daily cash and POS transactions.
- Prepare end-of-day reports.
- Monitor labour costs and operating expenses.
- Assist ownership with sales reporting and budgeting.
Events & Community Engagement
- Coordinate brewery events including beer releases, live music, tastings, and private bookings.
- Assist with planning and staffing for summer events.
- Represent the brewery professionally during community events.
- Help coordinate logistics for festivals and special promotions.
General Responsibilities
- Assist with packaging, merchandising, or brewery operations when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout customer and staff areas.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Support ownership with projects that contribute to the brewery's growth.
Qualifications
- Previous hospitality or bar management experience.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer skills.
- ProServe certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Evening, weekend,
and holiday availability.

Compensation
- Starting wage: $20.00 per hour. Salary will be flexible depending on experience.
- Wage increases will be based on demonstrated performance, leadership, reliability, and continued growth within Stettler Brewing Company.
- Opportunities for wage reviews will be considered periodically as the business grows and responsibilities increase.
- Employees may also have opportunities for additional hours during festivals, special events, and the busy summer season.
