Ontario and Quebec
Our client is a well-established infrastructure services company specializing in
municipal sewer maintenance, CCTV inspection, flushing, hydrovac, and hydro-
excavation services. We work with municipalities, contractors, utilities, and industrial
clients and are known for our strong safety culture, professional crews, and reliable,
well-maintained equipment.
Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair,
and preventive servicing of HydroCam’s fleet of heavy and light vehicles. This role
includes managing the workshop, implementing maintenance systems, tracking costs,
and ensuring equipment reliability to support secure and efficient field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy and light vehicles and
equipment
- Plan and manage preventive and periodic maintenance programs
- Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding, and general repair work as
required
- Maintain inventory levels and order parts and components to ensure fleet
availability
- Communicate equipment condition, upcoming repairs, and maintenance
schedules to management
- Prepare maintenance estimates, budgets, and work reports
- Complete inspection, maintenance, and compliance documentation
- Respond to emergency roadside repairs when required
- Maintain a clean, protected, and organized workshop environment
Working Conditions
- Primarily shop-based work with occasional field or roadside repairs
- Flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays as required
- On-call or emergency response work may be required
- Physical work involving lifting, bending, welding, and use of tools
Qualifications
- DEP in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics with required certifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment or truck mechanic
- Strong diagnostic skills in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
- Experience with combined trucks (Vactor) is an asset (training available)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Class G driver’s licence (DZ is an asset)
- Functional bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
