About the Client:

We are seeking a dedicated PSW to support Christina, a 30-year-old woman with a developmental disability. Christina is non-verbal but communicates through gestures, a few signs, and is currently trialing a communication device using pictures. She understands one-step familiar directions in English and Cantonese when motivated. Christina is ambulatory and happy 99% of the time, with no behavioral concerns. She simply needs motivation and support to engage in activities. The family has a live-in nanny who handles household tasks like meal prep and laundry, so this role focuses specifically on Christina's personal care and therapeutic development.

Responsibilities:

- Provide support with all ADLs including bathing, brushing teeth, and eating
- Coach Christina toward independence rather than doing tasks for her (e.g., helping her put on shoes or take off a jacket with just enough support)
- Lead fine motor activities during table time, including sorting, toy manipulation, and using clips
- Guide therapeutic exercises to build overall strength, practice walking on new terrains, and work on stairs
- Use and learn Christina's communication device to support her expression
- Work on cognitive challenges like matching activities and following simple directions (e.g., "pick up the red one")
- Engage Christina in recreational activities, especially music, which she loves

What We're Looking For:

- Comfortable providing just enough prompting rather than full assistance
- Understanding that progress takes time and consistency
- Reliable and consistent attendance

Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (6 hours per week). Flexible on exact timing during afternoon hours. Start date in September 2026. Potential to increase hours for the right fit. This is Christina's home-based day program, so consistency is essential.
