The Position

We are seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our Organic Synthesis team in Oakville.

This is a hands-on laboratory position supporting our scientists in the synthesis, purification, isolation, and characterization of organic compounds. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a busy chemistry laboratory and will have a strong commitment to laboratory safety, organization, and accurate documentation.

This position is well suited to someone who enjoys practical laboratory work and wants to develop broader experience in organic synthesis and process chemistry within an industrial environment.

Primary Responsibilities

- Support chemists with day-to-day experimental and laboratory activities.
- Perform routine laboratory operations including extractions, filtrations, solvent removal, distillations, crystallizations, and other product isolation procedures.
- Perform chromatographic purification using automated and semi-automated flash chromatography systems.
- Assist with reaction setup, work-up, purification, and sample preparation under the direction of project scientists.




- Support larger-scale laboratory and process-development activities as required.
- Prepare samples for analytical testing and assist with routine laboratory analyses.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities and communicate results and observations to project scientists and supervisors.
- Assist with chemical, solvent, consumables, and laboratory equipment inventories.
- Maintain clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory work areas.
- Follow established laboratory procedures, health and safety requirements, and applicable ISO quality-system requirements.
- Participate in laboratory improvement, maintenance, and general support activities as required.

Qualifications

- B.Sc. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline from a recognized university or college.
- Hands-on experience working in an organic chemistry laboratory is an asset.
- Previous industrial laboratory experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with common organic chemistry laboratory techniques such as extraction, filtration, chromatography, distillation, and crystallization.
- Good understanding of laboratory safety and the secure handling of chemicals and solvents.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow experimental procedures carefully and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A practical, positive, and collaborative approach to laboratory work.

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
