General Overview:

As a Design Technician, you will play an integral role in the design and detailing of steel building systems by producing accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams, you will help ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and ready for fabrication and installation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Create accurate 3D models for structural steel building components.
- Produce detailed shop drawings and erection drawings for fabrication and construction.
- Interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and project specifications.
- Develop structural steel connection details in accordance with applicable codes and company standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and contractors to resolve design and detailing issues.
- Revise drawings based on RFIs, design changes, and field feedback.
- Prepare bills of materials and fabrication-ready documentation.
- Maintain organized project files and drawing records.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, fabrication, and installation teams.
- Ensure drawings meet quality standards, constructability requirements, and project timelines.

Competencies and Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in structural steel detailing or steel building design.




- Experience producing structural steel shop drawings and erection drawings.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, agricultural, or other steel building projects.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety conscious and excellent team player with the desire for excellent customer service.

Technical Skills:

Experience with one or more of the following software:

- Tekla Structures
- Advance Steel
- AutoCAD 3D or similar 3D structural detailing software

Experience with:

- 3D modeling
- Drawing extraction
- Clash detection
- Steel detailing software workflows
