Quality Management, Health, and Safety Coordinator
Canadian Locators Inc. (CLI) is a locating firm that provides a full range of core locating services in the sphere of Subsurface Utility Locating. Canadian Locators Inc. (CLI) has been in the locating business for more than 22 years, with over four hundred Field Technicians and administrative and Support personnel who provide the care, initiative, know-how, and experience to get the job done right.
We are currently hiring a Quality Management, Health, and Safety Coordinator. The position reports to the Corporate Operations Manager and the Human Resources Department in Calgary. The role requires the ability to travel from Alberta to Ontario regularly, and candidates should possess knowledge of the laws in both provinces.
The primary purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, and oversee quality management, health, safety, and environmental programs, including policies, procedures, processes, and documentation. The Coordinator works closely with the Field Operations Managers and Human Resources to promote continuous improvement in quality management and health, safety, and environmental performance across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Environment:
- Conduct safety orientations for new employees and annual refresher training.
- Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee, including planning quarterly meetings, setting committee objectives, and reviewing policies.
- Record, investigate, and coordinate corrective actions arising from inspections, incidents, and employee safety concerns.
- Maintain office Occupational Health & Safety compliance, including emergency response plans, evacuation maps, inspections, and safety resources.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and maintain the Company's health and safety training program.
- Review field safety documentation, provide feedback, and recommend safety meeting topics.
- Monitor health and safety activities, compile statistics, analyze trends, and develop corrective action plans.
- Conduct an annual review of the Company's health and safety policies and procedures.
- Lead and supervise team members, maintain safety portals, facilitate safety meetings, and update Health & Safety manuals.
- Conduct regular visits to field sites to facilitate safety meetings, perform inspections, coach employees, and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable legislation.
- Conduct monthly Health & Safety inspections and meetings at the corporate office.
- Oversee basic office and facility maintenance by identifying maintenance needs, coordinating repairs, and ensuring the workplace remains safe, functional, and compliant.
Quality Management:
- Organize and oversee quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Coordinate and implement quality management requirements in accordance with legal, client, and company standards.
- Conduct research, establish quality standards and procedures, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Promote and enforce company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct annual reviews of company policies and procedures and recommend continuous improvements.
- Perform and coordinate COR and ISNetworld maintenance audits.
- Maintain and update the Company's quality management policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to manage WCB, WorkSafe BC, and WSIB claims, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and legislative compliance.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist in audits, compliance-related inspections, and inquiries.
- Assist with external audits.
- Review employee files in collaboration with Human Resources to ensure necessary documentation is present.
- Collaborate and communicate frequently with other staff in relevant departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
Education: Certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience in quality management and/or health and safety, preferably within the construction, utility locating, engineering, or a related industry. Current knowledge of relevant Ontario, BC and Alberta legislation, Occupational Health & Safety, and environmental regulations.
Certificates/Licenses:
Required: Certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety. COR Certification.
Valid driver's licence (Alberta Class 5 or equivalent provincial licence, such as Ontario Class G)
with a clean driver's abstract, and the ability to travel as required.
Preferred: CPHR, HSA, valid Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR/AED, CSTS, and WHMIS.
Successful candidate must be able to successfully complete the Company's pre-employment background screening.

- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with office staff, managers, supervisors, and field employees.
- Confident in communicating with employees at all levels of the organization and providing coaching, guidance, and support on health, safety, and quality matters.
- Ability to connect organizational objectives with departmental functions and develop effective processes.
- Strong research, analytical, and qualified report-writing skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have successfully completed the COR Auditor Training Course.
- Experience conducting or participating in COR audits and regulatory inspections.
- Willingness to travel throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario as operationally required.

Pay: $50,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
