Logistics Coordinator (Full-Time, Permanent – On-Site)

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments, managing customs documentation, working with carriers and freight forwarders, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods while maintaining compliance with shipping regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule domestic and international freight shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including:
- Bills of Lading (BOL)
- Advance Shipping Notifications (ASN)
- Commercial Invoices
- Customs documentation
- CERS filings
- USMCA (NAFTA) documentation and tariff codes
- ACE and ACI paperwork
- Arrange shipments with carriers including UPS, FedEx, DHL, and freight providers.
- Prepare shipping estimates, including weights, dimensions, and packaging documentation.
- Coordinate local transportation between suppliers and manufacturing operations.
- Communicate with customs brokers, carriers, vendors, customers, and internal departments to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Maintain accurate customer databases and shipping records.
- Generate shipping reports and other operational reports as required.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
and customer portals to initiate and monitor shipments.
- Analyze shipment performance and recommend process improvements.
- Investigate and resolve transportation issues and delivery delays.
- Negotiate freight rates and determine the most cost-effective shipping methods.
- Create barcode labels using barcode printing systems.
- Support Finance by:
- Reviewing freight invoice discrepancies
- Processing invoice approvals
- Providing shipping invoices
- Managing vendor credits and debit memos
- Resolving pricing, freight, and brokerage discrepancies
- Coordinating short shipment and MRDR documentation
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of shipping documentation, customs processes, and international freight procedures.
- Experience working with freight carriers, brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Ability to manage carrier relationships and negotiate competitive transportation rates.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and customer shipping portals.
- Knowledge of barcode printing systems is an asset.
- Lift Truck and Overhead Crane certification is considered an asset.
