Reports Directly To: Arena Manager

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Arena manager, ensure that floods are done on time with safety being a prime concern. Primary duties include ice resurfacing, compressor log readings, janitorial work & some HVAC troubleshooting.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

· Treat all guests with respect, respond to guest’s needs in a friendly and courteous manner.

· Open and close facility.

· Flood and maintain meticulous ice as scheduled.

· Always participate in keeping all areas of the facility neat and tidy as well as safe.

· Ensure all entrances are kept clear and safe of all debris and snow.

· Monitor the ice arena regularly.

· Monitor refrigeration system and fire suppression system complete all log reports as required.

· Follow safety programs associated with the operation of ice making and ice maintenance equipment.

· Do minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment.

· Perform daily maintenance of ice making equipment.

· Maintenance of hockey dashers, goals, and scoreboards.

· Participate in event takedown and set up.

· Ensure all staff are following Health & Safety rules and regulations.

· Any other duties that are required.

Requirements & Specialized Skills:





· A minimum of 2 years of previous training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment a must.

· Working knowledge of ice making and ice maintenance.

· Established attention to detail.

· Willingness to learn and teach new skills.

· Ability to accept and evaluate criticism on ice conditions.

· Demonstrated ability to be a team player.

· Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 20 pounds, e.g. bags of water softener salt.

· Good communication skills.

· Basic Computer knowledge.

· Mechanical aptitude an asset.

Education & Certification:

Certified Ice Technician.

Must have a valid class “G” license.

Grade 12 High school or equivalent

Current CPR / First Aid Certificate.
