Verduyn Tarps is a family owned business with operations in Canada since 1986. We take pride in servicing the trucking industry with a specialization in the flatbed sector.

The successful candidate for this position, is a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable individual with demonstrated superior communication skills. You will be involved with our purchasing department for products entering the building and you will work closely with our sales department providing outstanding customer service. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working closely with diverse personalities and has a strong background in problem-solving. You are a proven self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as within a group setting. You should be able to work well under pressure and show composure when dealing with issues.

In this role, you would be responsible for:

- Managing the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
- Collaborating and communicating with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
- Assisting the sales department in the shipment of outgoing orders (packing up orders to be shipped safely, arranging pick-ups by customers and shipping companies)
- Tracking, tracing, and updating the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Maintaining a clean and neat work area.
- Promptly unloading trucks, deliveries, and sorting and stocking receivables.
- Maintaining an accurate log sheet of daily moves, managing inventory, and counting accurately.
- Engaging vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
- Providing additional backup support for shipping and receiving departments.




- Inspecting lifting equipment and following safety procedures and protocol for the department as set out by the company
- Other duties as required

Accountability:

The Shipper/Receiver will report to the Director of Operations in conjunction with the Sales Manager and Purchaser. They will work closely with the sales and front of house teams.

Qualifications:

- Outstanding attendance – This role requires the successful candidate to be dependable and reliable in dealing with walk-in customers and deliveries from outside vendors
- You’re an effective 'people-person' with strong communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service and support skills with a minimum of 1-2 years related shipping/receiving experience.
- Efficient and effective organizational skills.
- Solid initiative and ability to learn quickly.
- Reliable and punctual team player with a POSITIVE ‘can-do’ attitude. You can be counted on to get the job done on time and with attention to detail.
- Computer and technology competent. Proficient with MS Office and systems software
- Experience with using accounting software; specifically, ERP experience would be a valued asset.
- Shipping and Receiving skills such as: ability to scan and sort incoming and outgoing stock, receiving, stocking, stacking, pulling, packing, and loading.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to understand, read and write in English
- Strong sense of time organization and urgency
- Physically capable of lifting 30-50lbs, ascending and descending ladders or stairs
- Forklift experience required, certification an asset

Pay: $21.08-$23.25 per hour
