The Opportunity

Summerlin is seeking an Accounting & Commercial Operations Specialist to join our Calgary team. The primary focus of this role is accounting and financial administration , including accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, reconciliations and transaction accounting. The position will also support Summerlin’s propane and butane marketing and logistics activities, providing an opportunity to gain exposure to the commercial side of an energy trading business.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable and invoicing.
- Reconcile customer, vendor, bank and transaction accounts.
- Monitor receivables and assist with collections.
- Track freight, storage, terminal and other transaction costs.
- Support month-end close, management reporting and cash-flow tracking.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with GST/HST and other routine reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external accountants, banks and service providers.

Commercial & Operations

- Maintain records for propane and butane purchases, sales and physical movements.
- Reconcile transactions, invoices, freight and associated costs.




- Assist with deal entry, margin tracking and transaction reporting.
- Support rail, truck, terminal, storage and inventory tracking.
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, carriers and terminals as required.
- Provide general analytical and administrative support to the commercial team.

What We're Looking For

- Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field.
- Approximately 3–7 years of relevant accounting or financial administration experience .
- Strong knowledge of AR, AP, invoicing and reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, dependable and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.

Experience in energy, commodities, transportation, logistics, inventory accounting or cross-border transactions would be an asset but is not required. Direct propane or butane experience is not required . Solid accounting fundamentals, attention to detail and an interest in learning the commercial side of the business are more important.
