About the Company
Grid Transformation is a specialist electric-utility operational technology advisory firm. We help utilities turn grid-modernization strategy into operational reality across Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Outage Management System (OMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), and related capabilities. Our work spans strategy and roadmaps, vendor-neutral assessment, requirements and design, program delivery, testing, process engineering, change, deployment, and operational readiness.
We bring a practical perspective grounded in how utilities plan, operate, restore, and modernize the distribution grid.
We are seeking an ADMS Functional Consultant who can connect electric-distribution operations, business processes, and technology delivery. You will work with control-room personnel, distribution engineering, IT/OT, program teams, vendors, and systems integrators to translate operational needs into clear workflows, requirements, functional designs, test scenarios, decisions, and acceptance evidence. The role combines utility-domain insight with solid business-analysis discipline and is suited to someone who is comfortable moving from workshop facilitation to detailed documentation and implementation support.
- Plan and facilitate discovery, requirements, process-design, functional-design, and decision workshops.
- Document current- and future-state workflows for outage management, switching, network operations,
and related utility processes.
- Elicit and translate business and operational needs into functional requirements, use cases, business rules, acceptance criteria, and configuration decisions.
- Develop process maps, operating narratives, stakeholder roles, handoffs, controls, pain points, and gap assessments.
- Maintain traceability across objectives, requirements, designs, interfaces, tests, defects, decisions, changes, and approvals.
- Review vendor designs, demonstrations, and proposed configurations; identify gaps, dependencies, assumptions, risks, and unresolved decisions.
- Develop operational scenarios and support system testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and defect clarification.
- Assess requirement and design changes for their impact on scope, schedule, operations, testing, training, cutover, and business readiness.
- Prepare workshop materials, executive summaries, action records, and clear follow-up communications.
- Support procedures, training, cutover rehearsals, parallel operations, go-live, hypercare, and formal business acceptance.
Requirements The successful candidate will bring a practical combination of utility knowledge, analytical discipline,
and client-facing communication:
- Experience performing functional consulting or business analysis on ADMS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, distribution automation, or a related utility OT program.
- Working knowledge of electric-distribution operations and the responsibilities of control-room, engineering, field, IT/OT, and support teams.
- Strong skills in elicitation, workshop facilitation, process mapping, requirements writing, use cases, business rules, acceptance criteria, and traceability.
- Experience supporting functional design, testing, user acceptance, defect clarification, change control, business readiness, and operational acceptance.
- Ability to distinguish business needs, requirements, design choices, assumptions, constraints, risks, and decisions, and to document each clearly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, attention to detail, sound judgment, and comfort working through ambiguity or disagreement.
- A degree in engineering, business, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to travel to client locations as project assignments require.
- Exposure to FLISR, VVO/CVR, Outage Management, Switch Order Management, GIS, AMI, DERMS is an asset.
We welcome applicants with different backgrounds and career paths who can demonstrate the capabilities needed to succeed. If your experience does not match every listed asset, we still encourage you to apply and explain the perspective you would bring.
