Westgreen Crop Inspections & Agriculture Advisory Services operates as an independent agronomy business and Authorized Seed Crop Inspection Service (ASCIS) and in the Saskatoon, SK area.

Westgreen prides itself in being an independent business that has farmers’ interests and success as their top priority. Westgreen does not promote, sell, or receive compensation from any chemical or fertilizer companies; recommendations are based solely on the growers’ needs and preferences.

Westgreen is seeking a full-time agronomist with 3+ years experience to work in the Saskatoon area.

In-season field scouting is the primary role of a Westgreen agronomist; they are on each farm twice a week during the growing season and maintain frequent communication with their clients. They are expected to anticipate, assess, and communicate problems to their clients and then provide recommendations for solutions. Agronomists are expected to work more hours during the growing season and winter hours are reduced and flexible. Specific responsibilities include:

1. Provide thorough agronomic services to clients:

a. Comprehensive field scouting during the growing season in areas of planting performance, fertility response, weed control, insect monitoring, disease monitoring, spray timing, harvest timing. b. Conducting soil and plant tissue sampling.
1. Operate equipment (truck, ATV, drone) to complete scouting duties.

Work independently and manage time efficiently to complete scouting responsibilities each week.
3. Maintain strong relationships with clients and actively assist them with improving their farming operations.
4. Collaborate with the agronomy team on a regular basis to share knowledge and experience.
5. Assist growers with crop & input planning, primarily during winter months.
6. Participate in professional development activities and continuing education opportunities relating to agronomy.

An education in agronomy or agribusiness is required for an agronomy position and previous work experience field scouting or as a consultant is also required. Eligibility for membership into the SIA is compulsory. Agronomists must be able to work independently and maintain strong relationships with Westgreen clients.
