Asphalt Screed Operator

DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced and hardworking Asphalt Screed Operator for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area.

Responsibilities:

- Safely operate the asphalt screed and/or paver according to directions from the Supervisor or Superintendent.
- Make real-time adjustments to screed or paving equipment to achieve required depth, grade, and surface finish.
- Work effectively in tight or constrained areas with precision and without compromising safety.
- Collaborate with paving crew to coordinate procedures, sequencing, and best practices on-site.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and basic maintenance of equipment before and after use.
- Follow all company safety policies, industry standards, and project-specific protocols.
- Assist with other related tasks and duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Superintendent.

Qualifications:

- 2+ years’ experience operating Screed.




- 3+ years’ experience in Road construction/Paving - experience working in civil construction is considered an asset.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License; Class 3 considered an asset
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of Paving materials, and Paving processes and industry requirements
