Title: Assistant Branch Manager
Reports to: Branch Manager
Location: 61 Hamilton St N, Waterdown, ON
Position Summary:
The Assistant Branch Manager is jointly responsible, with the Branch Manager, for the day-to-day operations and overall success of the Branch. The Assistant Branch Manager must be able to effectively maintain operations in absence of the Branch Manager including the ability to effectively communicate and delegate to the Branch Staff as well as manage and prioritize customer requirements.

Health and Safety:

Customer Service:
- Follows Turkstra's approach to world class customer service.
- Greets and advises customers by providing proficient knowledge of products and services; using resources where required.
- Process customer orders by locating and loading product into customer and company vehicles, exercise proper load building, secure and unload techniques.
- Seeks to earn 100% of the customer's business (100% wallet share).
- Develops relationships with Vendors and acts as a primary contact for merchandising material. - Level 2
- Develop rapport with customers, becoming a 'key contact' for account customers. - Level 3
Daily Operations:
- Assists with inventory management with the use of barcode scanners. Ensure that shelves are faced out, overstock brought down to flush fill shelves. Review stock adjustments, negative inventory reporting, deadstock reporting, slow moving reports and assist with receiving POs.
- Responsible for overseeing branch appearance according to Turkstra standards.
- Ensures that product price tags are kept up to date and that price changes are completed in a timely manner according to purchasing communiques.
- Oversees building maintenance activities (office equipment, washrooms, etc.). - Level 3
Business Objectives:
- Works together within the management team to help the Branch achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintains the Turkstra Lumber Build-It-Better branch standards.
- Participates in social media opportunities and assists the Marketing Team by providing relevant content for web and social media.
- Promotes all Turkstra manufacturing divisions (Mill, Trusses, Floor Trusses, Panels, Lawson Lumber) & specialty divisions (Design Centre, Trim & Doors).
Hire, Train and Retain:
- Manages employees through coaching an corrective counselling.
- Ensures day to day tasks are being distributed to teammates through effective and consistent delegation.
- Follows company procedure for employee accidents including paperwork and notification.
- Helps to sustain branch morale by contributing to a positive team environment within the Branch and throughout the company.
- Aids in overseeing appropriate training of staff, current and new. - Level 3
- Assists the Branch Manager in conducting performance reviews. - Level 3
- Develops training and development plans for all Customer Service Professional staff to encourage advancement where possible. - Level 4
Administration and Financial Objectives:
- Assists the Branch Manager in creating monthly staff schedules.
- Assists the Branch Manager in the responsibility of Accounts Receivables. Inputs meaningful notes and sets reminders to follow up on overdue accounts. - Level 2
- Assists the Branch Manager with APPO reporting to purchasing department in a timely fashion. - Level 2
- Assists the Branch Manager in completing weekly timesheets. - Level 3
- Assists in setting targets for Sales and Gross Margin Key Performance Indicators. - Level 4
- Supports the Regional Sales team by providing leads, opportunities and contacts. -Level 4
Career development:
- Completes all LMS course assignments within assigned timeframe.
- Assists in the training and support of coworkers (when and where appropriate).
Strategic Initiatives:
- Participates and encourages lean methodologies and projects. - Level 2
- Assists in identifying skill gaps and managing resource needs appropriate to branch requirements. - Level 3
- Complete Capex research and planning with a proactive approach (renovations, merchandising, etc.). - Level 4
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements
- Completion of Secondary School.
- Vocational training is considered an asset.
- Experience or knowledge with related products and services.
- Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset.
Abilities/Skill Requirements:
- Management proficiency.
- Self-motivated.
- Customer-focused.
- Results driven.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer (PC) literate.
- Ability to work in a fast pace work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimum lift requirements of 66 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
