Position Overview The Assistant Store Manager at La Grotta del Formaggio oversees the daily operations of the deli department, sandwich bar, and front-of-house experience. This role focuses on maintaining exceptional product quality, supporting team development, and ensuring operational efficiency in alignment with company standards.

The Assistant Store Manager balances operational oversight with hands-on team leadership to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Duties

- Lead, train, and support deli and front-of-house employees through ongoing coaching and regular check-ins.
- Oversee sandwich production, bread handling, portioning, presentation, and product consistency.
- Ensure recipes, SOPs, FoodSafe requirements, temperature logs, and cleaning procedures are followed.
- Lead front-counter operations, provide excellent customer service, and resolve concerns professionally.
- Support staff scheduling, workstation assignments, timecards, cashouts, tip calculations, and opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering products, packaging, and store supplies.
- Coordinate deliveries, pickup orders,



and large orders with the Catering and Warehouse departments.
- Ensure equipment and store technology are functioning properly and coordinate servicing when required.
- Support inspections, corrective actions, and timely communication of operational or food safety concerns.

Requirements

- At least one year of experience in a restaurant, deli, retail, hospitality, or store management role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and support a team.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to food quality, presentation, SOPs, and operational consistency.
- Ability to manage priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous deli experience and knowledge of Italian cuisine are preferred.
- FoodSafe certification or knowledge of food safety practices is an asset.
- Flexibility to work a full-time schedule, including weekends.

Work Conditions

- Hands-on position with regular interaction with customers and employees.
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Some bending, reaching, and lifting may be required.
