Status
Position Summary
We are seeking an Athletic Trainer with a focus on Strength and Conditioning to run our Fitness Centre and lead physical development for students and staff. In this role, you will lead movement coaching, performance testing, and strength training tailored to high school age groups and fitness levels. Additionally, you will collaborate with teachers to integrate fitness and health education into the broader school culture, creating a welcoming environment that builds healthy, lifelong habits.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- supervising students and staff in the Fitness Centre and conducting safety orientations
- demonstrating exercises, delivering pre-made workouts and personalized programs
- teaching, coaching, and correcting proper movement mechanics, lifting techniques, speed/agility work,
and recovery habits tailored to high school developmental stages
- modifying exercises and progressions based on athlete age, training age, individual skill level, or physical limitations.
- promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles through organized activities, bulletin boards, posters and school specific social media and website
- assisting teachers with the delivery of instruction in areas of expertise, such as developing and leading workouts, education on fitness, nutrition, wellness and mental health
- providing wellness presentations in Physical Education, Special Needs, Fitness and CALM classes
- providing performance testing for students, co-curricular teams, and staff
- conducting basic injury assessment and treatment
- providing support to school teams and athletes during regular Fitness Centre hours developing and implementing rehabilitation programs for injuries following consultation with medical staff or physical therapist
Education/Qualifications
- a degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field
- a minimum of one year related experience including program design, personal training, group training and injury prevention
- experience with providing instruction in strength training to adolescents
- robust leadership and interpersonal skills First Aid
Rate of Pay $38.81 - $49.36 per hour
