Position Title: BUS + LUNCH MONITOR
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Haisla Community School, Principal
Job Overview
Reporting to the Haisla Community School (HCS) Principal, the Bus + Lunch Monitor is responsible for providing support to the HCS Students and Bus Driver and HCS Kitchen Staff, to ensure the health and safety of the students on the bus to and from school and assist with the smooth operations relating to food delivery at mealtime at the school. The Bus + Lunch Monitor will collaboratively ensure a safe and efficient transportation and mealtime experience for all.

We are about 1962+ people, with approximately 532 living in Haisla (Kitamaat Village). We have lived off the land and waters of our traditional territory for thousands of years, and it remains the focus of all we do.
Duties & Responsibilities
Transportation Support:
- Collaboratively ensure the safety and welfare of all students while on the bus.
- Enforce bus safety rules and standards.
- Assist students in the loading and unloading process.
- Communicate behavior concerns and issues with the driver and relevant parties.
- Assist Bus Driver as needed.
- Follow and enforce applicable policies, rules and procedures regarding conduct, as well as emergency procedures and safety standards.
- Monitor student behaviour and resolve conflict in a positive, respectful and proactive manner.
- Attend all safety and training meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Meal Support:
- Assist with distribution of breakfast, recess snacks and lunch to students.
- Assist with daily cleaning and sanitization of required areas in kitchen and lunchroom.
- Monitor student behaviour and resolve conflict in a positive, respectful and proactive manner.
- Follow and enforce applicable policies, rules and procedures regarding conduct, as well as emergency procedures and safety standards.
- Attend all safety and training meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to handle complex and emotionally challenging situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative and productive working relationships with a variety of individuals.
- Availability for early mornings.
- Comfort in a school setting.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).

Salary Range: $27.28/hr
