: Part-Time Arena Operator

Rate: $24-$30 per hour

Schedule: Weekday evening shifts available, 4pm to midnight - approximately 16-24 hours per week

General Summary: The Part-Time Arena Operator will be responsible for supporting the initiatives, vision, and execution of various arena operational plans on behalf of Frozen Dreams Properties Inc. This role is intended to carry out the day-to-day activities of the arena, and occasionally the grounds as it pertains to 3 key components: ice making and maintenance, inside and outside facility cleanliness and customer service.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

- Operate equipment such as Zambonis, skid steers, lawn equipment, power edgers, floor scrubbers, etc.
- Support the Facility Manager in decisions related to day-to-day arena operations including the creation of checklists, logs, SOP’s and hazard assessments.
- Record and maintain accurate readings and logbooks.
- Maintain Refrigeration, HVAC and other mechanical systems including corrective and preventative maintenance.
- Actively assess and report all issues related to “Field of Play” components through team logs or directly to facility management.
- Carry out cleaning tasks as outlined in daily workflow guides and checklists.
- Contribute to a positive environment within the department, and a collaborative approach to interaction with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducts shipping and receiving duties of incoming and outgoing facility freight.
- Must be available for shift work, weekends, and holidays.

Experience and Skills

- Completion of High School, supplemented by one year of arena operations experience including operating equipment such as ice resurfaces, tractors, or other related equipment of similar size and complexity.
- Strong level of initiative required.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Emergency First Aid, AED, and CPR.
- Interest in working toward Arena Level 1 and 2 certifications preferred.
- Power Engineering 5th Class is an asset.
- Experience in a shipping and receiving department is an asset.
- Familiarity with the HSL and its codes, policies, and culture an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills: highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be versatile, and to work well under pressure, strong level of initiative required.
- Functional knowledge of basic building systems in an arena environment, i.e.) plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. would be an asset.
- Strong technical abilities with Microsoft programs.
- Must have own transportation as no public transit is available.
