Vacancy Details The role of the Child and Youth Worker at Maryvale involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team, primarily stationed in the Day Treatment program. The Child and Youth Worker provides care aligned with Maryvale’s core values and professional standards and actively contributes to maintaining a safe work setting in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Position Details

Job Title:

Child and Youth Care Worker

:

- Providing direct therapeutic support, supervision and behavioural coaching to children and youth experiencing mental health challenges.
- Building positive therapeutic relationships while modelling healthy communication, emotional regulation, problem-solving and social skills.
- Participating as an active member of an interdisciplinary assessment and treatment team.
- Implementing individualized treatment goals and behaviour support strategies developed by the treatment team.
- Supporting youth in developing emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, independence and healthy coping strategies.
- Planning, facilitating and participating in therapeutic, recreational and educational programming.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, daily records and written reports in accordance with agency standards.
- Collaborating with families, clinicians, educators and community partners to support positive treatment outcomes.




- Maintaining a safe, therapeutic and organized treatment environment while ensuring compliance with agency policies and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Performing other related duties consistent with the position.

Hours of Work:

Thirty-five hours per week inclusive of thirty (30) minute daily lunch break working Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm pursuant to Article 18 of the Collective Agreement.

Rate of Pay:

The wage range for this position is $25.50 – 35.54 per hour which in the Collective Agreement Schedule “A” Salary Grid, and exclusive of statutory withholdings and authorized deductions. Salary progression will follow the terms of the Collective Agreement.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Child and Youth Worker/Child and Youth Care Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Candidates currently enrolled in programs matching this description will also be considered.

Experience

- Experience working with children and adolescents experiencing mental health, behavioural and emotional challenges is preferred.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary treatment,



and educational setting is considered an asset.
- Experience implementing behaviour management, therapeutic programming and crisis intervention strategies is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities · Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.

· Demonstrated clinical judgment, critical thinking and decision-making abilities.

· Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

· Effective conflict resolution, de-escalation and behaviour management skills.

· Strong organizational, time management and documentation skills.

· Ability to establish therapeutic relationships while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

· Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practices.

· Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and culturally responsive care.

· Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
